Level 2 Stage 6 Typing Worksheet – Q and P

Welcome to your Level 2, Stage 6 worksheet, where young typists meet the Q and P keys. These two letters sit at the far edges of the top row and ask the little fingers to do some careful stretching. This free printable sheet is perfect for children practising touch typing at home or in the classroom, and for any parent or teacher guiding them along.

What you’ll practise

Stage 6 introduces the trickiest reaches yet: Q on the left and P on the right, both tucked into the corners of the top row and typed with the little fingers.

• Q is typed with the left little finger – the same finger that rests on A, stretching upward.
• P is typed with the right little finger – the same finger that rests on the ; key, reaching up and across.
• The technique cue: keep the other fingers anchored on the home row so your hands return home after every stretch.
• It builds on the W and O reaches from Stage 5 and completes the top row, getting fingers ready for the bottom-row keys in Level 3.

How to use this printable worksheet

Here is how to get the most from the printed sheet:

• Print the worksheet and sit the child squarely at the keyboard with feet flat, back straight and wrists relaxed.
• Rest all eight fingers on the home row first, then type each line exactly as written, looking at the page rather than the keys.
• Check that Q is reached with the left little finger and P with the right little finger, and that both hands settle back home afterwards.
• Repeat each line a few times until it feels smooth and unhurried – accuracy matters more than speed.
• Move on to Stage 7 only once typing Q and P feels comfortable and the fingers find them without looking.
