Level 3 Stage 9 Typing Worksheet – C and Comma

Welcome to Level 3, Stage 9 of your typing journey. This free printable worksheet helps young typists learn two new keys without looking at the keyboard: the letter c and the comma (,). It is perfect for children who have already mastered the home row plus v, m, b and n, and are ready to keep building speed and confidence.

What you’ll practise

In Stage 9 you reach down for the letter c and the comma (,), two keys that sit just below the home row. The trick is using the right finger for each one and letting it spring straight back to its resting key.

  • The c is typed with your left middle finger — the same finger that rests on d. Curl it down and inwards to reach c.
  • The comma (,) is typed with your right middle finger — the same finger that rests on k. Drop it down to find the comma.
  • Keep all your other fingers gently anchored on the home row so each hand stays steady as one finger moves.
  • This stage builds on the b and n you learned in Stage 8, and the comma prepares you for the full stop and other punctuation coming in Level 4.

Type each line, then repeat it

Sit with your fingers on the home row and type every line below using the correct fingers. Repeat any line that feels tricky.

  • fgfrftfvfb ded sws aqa
  • jhjujyjmjnj kik lol ;p;
  • nine brown buses drive around town
  • dedcd dedcd fvfbf dced dced
  • cap cup cow cut can car

How to use this printable worksheet

This sheet is designed to be printed and used away from the screen, so the child can focus on finger habits rather than watching the monitor. Here is a simple way to use it.

  • Print the worksheet and sit up straight, with feet flat on the floor and wrists relaxed.
  • Rest the fingers on the home row, then work down the page one line at a time, typing each line slowly.
  • Check that c is always pressed with the left middle finger and the comma with the right middle finger, and that each finger returns home.
  • Repeat any tricky line two or three times, aiming for smooth, even keystrokes rather than speed.
  • When typing c and the comma feels comfortable and accurate, move on to Stage 10.
